Disrule
The Narrator is the person who runs the game. He or she sets the mood, begins the story, and plays every single character that is not a player character. Knowing that the Narrator is responsible for every adversary one might face may give players an "us versus them" attitude towards the Narrator. This is a bad idea, as the Game belongs to everyone playing it. The Narrator's main job is to keep the story moving. He or she spices things up when they are slow and eases things off when it becomes too much. Do not be misled into thinking the role of Narrator is only for experienced gamers and gluttons for punishment. Anyone willing to do the work, can.
The job of being the Narrator is occasionally difficult and sometimes thankless. If you have had a good time playing, tell the Narrator. He or she will appreciate it. And Narrators, ask for constructive criticisms.
While on the subject, I feel one point should be cleared up right now, and this is very important. Remember it well:
During the Game, the Narrator is GOD!
As long as everyone keeps that in mind, the Game runs much smoother and tends to be, therefore, more fun for all involved. :)
For this game, each player will need: two ten-sided dice (2D10), a pencil, some small tokens (nice, but not necessary), common RPG materials (scratch paper, miniatures, hex paper, etc.), a few friends, and plenty of imagination (and snacks).
