Beforelife & Afterlife

Most simply put, the Beforelife is a complete unknown, beyond the conception of both mortals and the gods and devils of the Seventh. The origin of souls is still a mystery in the Known Paradigms and it is likely to remain eternally thus. Where so-called "unpledged" souls actually go upon departing a mortal coil is a similar mystery. Those who watch such things claim that the unpledged indeed go somewhere, but nothing more is known. Pledged souls are reaped and end up here.

Perhaps not quite what people had in mind when they thought of an Afterlife, souls are both currency and battery in the Seventh. While it is unknown if souls are conscious, there is simultaneously no real concern. Things may differ slightly, or completely, in the other Celestial Kingdoms, but in Heaven and Hell, it is simply the way things are.
