Origin
The natives called it Rhuhanga ahataine amaisho: "God without a face". A Weil Medical Group expeditionary force discovered the creature deep in the Congo rainforest. Where it came from, how it arrived on Earth, and for what reason are questions that remain unanswered. Although the WMG forces were ill-equipped and unprepared for such a confrontation, they were able to subdue the beast and package for transport. There were no survivors amongst the native peoples that had worshiped the creature.
Its human name was bestowed by an overly-creative lab technician when it became apparent that it could assume human form at will. It quickly mastered the English language and while quite loquacious concerning its seething hatred of humanity and the eventual subjugation of the same, it was quite reticent about its own origins. Apparently immortal or, at least, very long-lived, the creature had been active in the Congo for possibly hundreds of years.
The WMG managed to enslave the beast through trickery and clever use of explosives. By implanting explosive charges throughout the creatures anatomy that could be detonated by satellite signal anywhere on Earth, the WMG managed to gain a very powerful and dangerous ally. Following the surgery, a careful explanation of the procedure, and a live demonstration, the creature was quite docile towards its new masters.
Trained in a variety of skills, Suriel became the hidden face of Weil Medical Group. His arrival was quickly synonymous with hostile takeover and fatal "accidents". While far from a public figure, his human disguise became a feared symbol of the loss of freedom in the corporate world for the past twenty years.
Portrait
Suriel Graywood works for Weil Medical Group in the Mergers and Acquisitions Department. Competition is fierce and corporate headhuntings have been known to take place. It is in these moments that Mr. Graywood facilitates transitions by removing obstacles to efficient takeover. Mr. Graywood delights in his work as most such obstacles tend to be breathing. Suriel is not human nor is he of Earthly origin. Weil Medical Group is poised to become the largest medical supplier on the planet, providing healthcare to one quarter of the world's population. It is currently stalemated by the efforts of TMI and a powerful grass-roots movement.
While Suriel is capable of appearing human, his behavior, watched carefully, reveal the creature's true nature. Suriel speaks in a constant near-monotone. He never raises his voice, nor whispers. He never uses contractions. He refers to other parties by title and surname, always. He has odd habits that border on obsession. He develops stalker tendencies for individuals with whom he has repeated, nonviolent contact. He studies humans and their behavior for reasons that may not even be known to the creature. When he smiles, it expresses no warmth and looks, instead, like a predatory baring of teeth. His gray eyes reveal nothing resembling an inner life and stare at the world with as much animation and curiosity as a camera.
Mr. Graywood is not charismatic but seems to garner followers, nonetheless. Individuals attracted to or obsessed with power are drawn to the creature for reasons they cannot explain. Suriel has access to otherworldy technology and is capable of altering humans for warfare, and some evidence suggests that he has already done so. Such subjects would be required to serve unquestioningly both the monster and its masters.
